I was just about to nominate one of Joe's excellent posts for the archive,
when a thought struck me.

Isn't it a bit restrictive that we can only nominate posts to UKSF for the
archive? I mean, of all the other possible entities in existence in the
universe, both tangible and intangible, the only thing that we are permitted
to submit to Conlan for inclusion in the UKSF Archive are Internet newsgroup
posts. And to a single fucking group, FFS!?!

I would quite like to nominate my penis for the archive, for example, or a
bacon and brie flan, or the fact that CCFC have just signed Marcus Hall
again, or possibly that Friday Night when I was 19 when that curly haired
woman kept putting her hand into my pants on the dancefloor. But alas none
of these things are possible.

Sure, I could 'post' to 'UKSF' about this shit, and the post could get
nominated, but that's not the same as nominating the actual thing itself, is
it? Cunts.

Good though Joe's post was, I think it's a crime that it's only companions
in the archive will be other 'posts' from 'posters' such as Cunningham and
Cook, and Greedy G (who is not even a proper poster). Wouldn't it be better
if really good posts were archived in the company of some great songs,
paintings, or people? Or my penis?

Frankly, I find this whole archive thing to have *severe* limitations for
me. I would like to see Conlan improving the archive as follows:

Phase One:
    - UKSF posts
    - Hairstyles
    - Deceased pets
    - Haiku
    - Hymns
    - Retired Clergy A to G
    - Types of pie
    - Types of flan
    - swear words

Phase Two:
    - All of the above PLUS
    - Any posts to usenet groups in the jp.* hierarachy containing the
phrase 'trousers'
    - Porn websites
    - Abstract philosophical concepts inspired by Plato and/or Socrates
    - My penis
    - Flavours of ice-cream
    - People called 'Phil'
    - Illness and disabilities
    - Animals you saw in dreams

etc.

I appreciate that the archive may require a broader webpipe to accomodate
the changes, which is why I recommend expanding in 83 easy stages, with the
intention of implementing a full archive service in time for 2008.
